A new Australian-designed, state-of-the-art software betting platform, with the potential to revolutionise wagering systems worldwide, has recorded its first multi-million dollar, overseas sale to the New Zealand Racing Board (NZRB).
The new betting system, called Typhoon®, was developed over three years by Australian based software company, Media and Gaming, and launched this year.
Typhoon® overcomes the numerous limitations embedded in the software of most wagering companies throughout the world, thereby delivering major operational and commercial benefits to them.
The Managing Director of Media and Gaming, Nicholas Plowman, said, "This contract between NZRB and Media & Gaming will result in a commercial and technology-based partnership which will ensure the NZRB can take a leading position in an increasingly competitive global entertainment market."
The CEO of the NZRB, Mr. Andrew Brown, said, "As part of our modernisation strategy, the NZRB conducted a worldwide search for the most efficient and reliable betting platform and Typhoon® was selected as the best and most cost-effective option.
"Along with a fast and reliable service, Typhoon® will significantly improve the NZRB’s capacity to compete against offshore operators and enable us to be much more agile and responsive in meeting the needs of the industry and our customers," Mr. Brown said.
Mr. Plowman said, "Tote operations throughout the world run on legacy systems that do not enable them to compete against more technology advanced gaming enterprises. This is holding racing back in its attempts to match it against other forms of global entertainment. Typhoon® goes a long way to solving these problems."
"Quite simply Typhoon® is the most highly advanced and technically superior wagering system currently available in the world today.
Mr. Plowman identified several key advantages of the new Typhoon® betting system.
Mr. Plowman said. "Typhoon® enables a wagering operator to respond to customer demand and will help grow new revenues for racing codes, clubs and sporting bodies."
"For example, with Typhoon® an operator can create a trifecta pool on the Tour de France or the US Masters and have it available to their customers across all its retail, web and mobile channels instantly."
"With this first overseas contract at Media and Gaming, we are excited firstly for the NZRB in their far reaching decision, as well as for the New Zealand racing industry which has the potential to gain improved returns, and for the New Zealand public who will enjoy an enhanced betting experience. With Typhoon®, everyone wins." Mr. Plowman said.
"The racing industry, its stakeholders and TAB customers deserve the best products and services, which the New Zealand Racing Board and the new Typhoon® system will deliver to them."
Mr. Plowman said, "We are excited for the NZRB in their far reaching decision, for the public in their enjoyment of a bet, and for the industry in its improved returns. With Typhoon®, everyone wins."

Typhoon Pools® Managing Director, Nick Plowman, this week introduced two more bet types, the first of the Typhoon Pools® Force 2™ range, or perhaps better known to punters as the Quinella and Exacta.
"We have been keen to bring on additional product as soon as possible so that punters can get more bang for their buck more often," Mr Plowman said. "The Force range of betting products are all ready to go, but we felt it was important to bed down the Force 1 pools [win and place] before introducing the more exotic bet types."
The introduction of the Force 2™ bets also coincides with Typhoon Pools® JOIN NOW and we’ll ADD 30% to your First Deposit promotion. "We are all about giving our customers 30% more bang for their buck wherever and whenever we can, and it just made sense when we were looking into what we would do for our first campaign, to add 30% to customers’ first deposits."
Existing customers who joined early on won’t be disappointed as they too have the chance to get the same benefit on their next deposit. Plowman said that the Typhoon Pools® Team felt it was important to reward customers who joined up without enticement for their support.
If you haven’t yet taken the time to look over the Typhoon Pools® site and its betting interface, it’s well worth your while doing so. As one happy punter noted, “it rocks and no fraction deductions, can't wait for the exotics to kick in.” Well it will be interesting to get his feedback on the Force 2™’s.
The Force 2™ user interface has been well considered delivering a comparatively clear and simple dashboard. Betting functions for Exacta including such options as boxed and roving banker are a breeze to navigate through.
The interface builds the bets into a bet builder and allows the punter to check the approximate dividend for his selections before placing his bet. Bet selections can be modified as necessary from either the bet card or the bet builder.
It is understood that the Force 3™ will be available early next month and will feature the same intuitive interface, barring any last minute improvements based on customer feedback.

Typhoon Pools® has been determined to show the wagering industry that its innovative offer and underlying technology is something that can deliver a new experience and economic benefits to punters and the industry.
It seems that the message is getting through with confirmation coming back from two independent sources, punters and the technology world.
"A recent comment passed back to us from one of customers was glowing in terms of our product offer and delivery," said Nicholas Plowman, Typhoon Pools® Managing Director.
The Client said: "I joined Typhoon Pools, it rocks and no fraction deductions, can't wait for the exotics to kick in. These boys could teach Tabcorp a thing or two about responsive websites."
"It’s just great to get this feedback for the effort we have gone to", Plowman said.
"Winning the technology award too is just outstanding and proof of what we have been saying."

Typhoon Pools®, a next generation in wagering, promises racing and sporting fans a different experience with more excitement and more bang for their buck when it launches Wednesday 11 March.
Running on Typhoon®, a system built in Australia from the ground up by a team with 30 years experience in developing and implementing innovative, large-scale wagering systems, the Typhoon Pools® website will provide a range of world first opportunities for punters.
"Typhoon Pools®, as well as enabling traditional betting choices, is designed with the latest technology to facilitate new and unique bet types, with more information, more security, more speed and more reliability for betting customers," Managing Director, Nicholas Plowman, said.
"Typhoon Pools® will show racing and sporting fans worldwide that their betting experience can be as entertaining and exciting as the races and matches themselves," Mr. Plowman said.
Initially, Typhoon Pools® will launch with Force 1™ [Win and Place] pools on selected Australian horse racing meetings and a Force 8™ pool on new season AFL and NRL games, progressively adding new products and events in coming weeks and months. Other sporting events to be covered by Typhoon Pools® will include English Premier League, Cricket, FIFA World Cup, Formula One, Rugby, Golf, Tennis, Cycling and US sports.
Other well known race wagering bet types including quinella, exacta [Force 2™] and trifecta [Force 3™], and quadrella [Force 4™] will soon be offered. The added attraction of Typhoon Pools® is its specialty bets tailored to create greater entertainment and also jackpots. These new bet types, the Force 4™, Force 6™, Force 8™ and Force 10™ are Typhoon Pools® marquee product range.
"Typhoon Pools® will enable racing and sporting fans to test their punting skills and hype their excitement with each event," Mr. Plowman said. "And it runs on the Typhoon® software platform that is quite simply the best system available anywhere in the world today."
Independently tested by BMM Compliance with outstanding results, Typhoon® is fault resistant, is completely automated and operates 24/7.
Typhoon Pools® racing product aims to offer punters a higher return because the commission it takes from the pools will be almost 30% less than the established Australian TABs. However, Mr. Plowman said that Typhoon Pools® would also give back to the racing and sporting bodies by paying the relevant product fees. "We believe in paying our way and we will also be proud to assist in opening new markets for the racing and sporting sectors. In fact, fundamentally, we feel strongly that the introduction of Typhoon will be integral to the racing industry’s future development," he said.
Registration is now open on its web site www.typhoon-pools.com
Typhoon Pools® is an Australian company, with a Bookmaker’s Licence from the Norfolk Island Gaming Authority and an eGambling Licence from the Alderney Gambling Control Commission in Alderney, which is a UK white-listed jurisdiction in the Channel Islands, UK.

Its official, a Typhoon of a different kind is about to sweep across the globe with Force 4, 6, 8 and Force 11 ferocity. The latest internet driven sports betting/wagering product to hit the market, Typhoon Pools®, has today launched its product information and partner support website ahead of the September 5 wagering go-live date.
Nicolas Plowman, Director of Media & Gaming Alderney, where Typhoon Pools® operates from, said today marks the beginning of what is potentially a very significant new product initiate for the company, one that had seemed an obvious business opportunity two years ago.
"Typhoon Pools® is a unique business in that it doesn't service the betting customers direct, but rather is a service provider conducting pools on all manner of sporting events from all over the world for existing wagering and gaming operators to link into", Mr Plowman said.
"We will run and administer the pools and undertake product development initiatives, while our betting partners take the Typhoon Pools® product range to their customers. Indeed we expect our innovative range of "Force" bet types will help our betting partners attract new customers."
Pari-mutuel or pool betting on sporting events has the potential to be huge. Pari-mutuel betting on horses is extraordinarily popular with the top four countries in the world investing between £5.7 billion up to £209 billion annually.
"We understand that these operations have been around for a very long time and have built up to these levels of turnover, so we are not expecting to achieve anywhere near these figures in the early years, but we and our betting partners are very confident in our products."
"Typhoon Pools® has at its heart the Typhoon® wagering platform that many have described as being the most efficient, flexible and contemporary wagering engine yet developed. It is this system that has enabled Typhoon Pools® to create the "Force" range of bet types – Force 4, 6, 8 and 11. We believe these innovative products and their potential to deliver attractive jackpots will strike a positive cord with the sports fans and punters alike, all of which are explained in detail on the new website."
"To be successful you must have a product that is attractive to consumers, we believe we have that now, but importantly we have a system that is so flexible that we will be able to further tailor the product range to meet the consumer's expectations, literally on the fly."
"This [the Typhoon® wagering platform] amongst other things, is perhaps what gives Typhoon Pools® such an edge in the market and provides a new direction to the global wagering industry."
Typhoon Pools® is located and operated from Alderney, a British Channel Island under the bailiwick of Guernsey and is governed by the Alderney eGambling Regulations, 2006.
Typhoon Pools® will conduct pools on sporting events including Tennis, Golf, Football, Rugby, Formula One, Australian Rules Football, Rugby League, Cricket and Cycling events like the Tour de France, Giro d' Italia and sprint racing. Racing will also be added to the mix in the coming 12 months.
In addition to the unique Force product range, all of the well known wagering bet types including win, exacta, trifecta, quinella and quadrella will be available through Typhoon Pools®.
